Jessica Lutz to direct MFA Creative Practice

We are really excited to let you know that Jessica Lutz will be joining Transart Institute as Director of our MFA Creative Practice. In 1991 at Vermont College, Jessica Lutz and G. Roy Levin co-founded the first-ever low-residency MFA in Visual Art program. Abiding by the premise that “process is an essential part of the product,” Jessica directed the MFA in Visual Art program through active participation with all constituents, re-examination of the assumptive norms and practices, and the struggle to keep group dynamics in play at a time when top down leadership was often seen as normative. With a background in the performing arts, Jessica has choreographed and performed works throughout New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont, served as the Associate Director of the Vermont Governor’s Institute on the Arts, was part of organizing and leading a successful union drive, and elected as union president. She believes deeply in the power of the arts and education to transform lives. Jessica graduated from Bennington College with a degree in Dance and Choreography.
